Which brands get the best reviews?

Movie fans might be familiar with sites like Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic, where reviews are converted into a numerical rating and each film is assigned a percentage based on the scores it gets from critics. The idea behind TotalCarScore is very similar, but for auto reviews.

The website recently highlighted which brands were receiving critical praise for their vehicles in 2012. According to the website's scoring, Infiniti models have had the best year in terms of reviews, narrowly beating out cars from Mercedes-Benz. Buick, Audi and Lexus round out the top five.

"With the economy and car sales on the rebound, this is a transitional year for the automotive industry," said Karl Brauer, editor in chief, founder and CEO of Total Car Score. "Our analysis provides an overall perspective of how automakers are fairing at this unique point in time. We performed the analysis and created the rankings because we wanted to highlight the state of the automotive industry in such a critical year."

Of course, a car's initial reviews of can't ultimately tell how it will perform over time. Drivers can ensure their car stays on the road by keeping up with vehicle maintenance and taking care of auto repairs as soon as they appear.
