Toyota recalls certain RAV4 and Lexus HS 250h models

Toyota and Lexus owners should keep an eye on the mail for a notification letter from Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) regarding a voluntary recall. Roughly 760,000 RAV4's from model years 2006-2011 and 18,000 Lexus's from 2010 are affected, according to CNN Money. No other hybrids or vehicle models from TMS are being recalled at this time.

According to Consumer Reports, the issue is not caused by manufacturing, but by improper procedure during maintenance. During alignment service, if the nuts on the rear suspension arm are not tightened correctly, it may allow some excessive play and rust formation. This may cause accidents as the arms could come loose or separate.

Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons told the news outlet that so far in the United States, there have been "nine crashes and three minor injuries alleged to be related to this condition."

The Japanese car company is working on a solution and when it has figured it out, it will mail owners a notification to come in to have it taken care of.
