The best albums to listen to on a road trip

Recently, we traveled to Vermont in our Toyota Highlander and brought along some Christmas music, the new Kanye CD and the radio. Needless to say, it was not the wisest of choices for road trip music.

To prevent any other drivers from potential suffering, here is a list of albums that will help ease the pain when you can't stand to look at a field ever again. After you've gotten a check up to make sure your car won't break down halfway through, grab some of these suggestions and hit the road.

Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" is a rock opera that might not be the best rap album ever, but it's pretty close. It's like poetry spewing that doesn't make sense until the album ends. The catharsis, however, is well-worth it. We were glad we brought this one with us. Mariah Carey's newest Christmas album, however, did not make us so happy.

Another album worth listening to is Phish's "A Live One," a two-disc compilation that focuses on the music and not cramming in a large amount of tracks. The 30-minute "Tweezer" and regular-length "Bouncing Around the Room" are awesome.
