Tesla looks to expand roadster's range

Tesla has made a name for itself as one of the premier auto manufacturers in the world. Drivers who prioritize quality, safety and luxury flock to the brand, but soon they may have even more reasons to get behind the wheel of a Tesla. According to the most recent release from the company, owners of the Tesla Roadster will soon have the option to double its range. It has developed a new add-on kit for the electric vehicle that allows the car to drive up to 400 miles on a single charge. It's able to accomplish this thanks to an improved battery with 31 percent more energy, a new aerodynamic shape and more efficient tires, among other features. To prove that the Roadster - with the upgrade kit - can handle a 400-mile-long trek, Tesla will be putting its car to the test: In early 2015, the Roadster will be traveling from Los Angeles to San Francisco nonstop. Although some drivers may want to see a similar upgrade available for the famous Model S, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that this is still far off in the future. The Tesla brand may be known for its high-end creations, but that doesn't mean drivers don't want easier vehicle maintenance. A range upgrade is the first step down that path.
