Subaru sets the bar for safety

December 26, 2012 12:00 AM

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recognizes Subaru for its superior safety, as it was the only manufacturer to earn a 2013 Top Safety Pick for every model it builds, in addition to earning the new Top Safety Pick+ award for the Legacy and Outback. This was the fourth consecutive year Subaru saw every model earn the distinction.

Subaru earned the recognition thanks to its safety measures and its performance in crash tests, demonstrating strong results when it comes to protecting occupants in frontal, side, rear and rollover crashes. The Top Safety Pick+ awards were given to models that received top evaluations in four out of five IIHS categories, and the Subaru Legacy and Outback were among the first vehicles to be named as winners thanks to the auto repair undergone by the 2013 models, which improved safety features.

"The strong ratings of our products in IIHS testing supports Subaru's belief in safety," said Thomas J. Doll, executive vice president of Subaru of America, Inc. "Having 100 percent of our models listed as IIHS Top Safety Picks and now the Legacy and Outback models tested to TSP+ status demonstrates that."
