The 2013 Ram 1500 was named Truck of the Year by the editors of Motor Trend magazine.

According to CNN, the magazine was impressed by the truck's fuel economy and upscale interior. The vehicle also scored well in the various categories it was evaluated in, including design advancement, engineering excellent, safety, value and performance.

Only two other trucks had undergone enough of a design change to be eligible for this year's award, the news source reports. However, those other vehicles, the Ford F-150 and Nissan NV3500, underwhelmed judges with their auto repair needs when compared to the Ram.

"...In the end, the choice was clear: Ram 1500 not only withstood our rigorous testing, it impressed at every step along the way," said Edward Loh, Motor Trend's editor-in-chief. "Our judges were won over by the performance of Ram 1500's broad array of standard and optional equipment. It's a truck that can be tailored to meet almost anyone's needs."

The new Ram boasts an eight-speed automatic transmission, aerodynamic features and a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 25 miles per gallon. Drivers also have the ability to choose between multiple engines and trim levels, all the while staying within a relatively affordable price range.
