Nissan recently unveiled a new system that will make tire maintenance a bit easier for their owners, according to Autoblog.
The federal government has mandated tire pressure monitoring systems as standard equipment on all vehicles. These systems alert drivers when the tires on their car are getting a bit low in air pressure, which is one of the key causes of flats. However, many customers do not know exactly how to inflate their tires once they're low. Nissan is going a step further.
Rather than trusting customers to rely on tire pressure monitoring gauges, the automaker has developed a new system for its vehicles that can tell when a tire is being inflated. The system will automatically honk the horn when the driver has hit the correct pressure, so there's no risk of over- or under-inflating.
The system will make its debut on the 2013 Altima, but the Japanese automaker hopes to expand it to all cars in the future.
