New Shelby will produce 650 horsepower

Ford has announced the details on the brand new 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, and it appears that the new model will be the most powerful Shelby yet.

With a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces 650 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, the new limited edition Mustang sports the most powerful eight-cylinder engine of any production model, the automaker claims. Yet it's not simply brute strength that the GT500 has going for it. Ford engineers have also retuned the vehicle from top to bottom, with a new suspension, powertrain, brakes and gearing, reports Autoblog.

"It might just seem like we're putting a bigger engine into the car. But it's been a balanced approach through and through," said Jamal Hameedi, SVT chief engineer. "We've completely redone the car to be even more sophisticated in terms of handling and control than the prior model."

Whether you've got a high-end limited edition vehicle in your garage or the same car you've had for the past decade, auto maintenance should be one of your top priorities. It may not seem like much, but regular tune-ups and oil changes can help you get the most out of your vehicle in terms of performance and keep the car on the road for longer.
