Looking for a way to spice up your love life? You might want to get behind the wheel, because a recent survey from the dating site YourTango.com and Ford found that taking road trips strengthens relationships. About 90 percent of respondents claim that a car journey had a positive impact on a relationship, and 77 percent look forward to embarking on such adventures.

Word about the benefits of these journeys must be spreading, as nearly 90 percent of people say they will take a road trip with their significant other this summer.

"More and more couples are taking road trips due to the high cost of airfare, and because it gives you the opportunity to take your vehicle with you to explore new places," said Samantha Hoyt, a Ford marketing manager.

Of course, running into car trouble in the middle of your road trip to a surefire way to kill the mood. To prevent any issues from popping up during a vacation, drivers should make sure to take their vehicle in for a car tune up to ensure every aspect of the machine is in top working condition. Once everything has checked out, they can hit the road and take the next step in their relationship.
