Lamborghini to create special 50th anniversary model

Lamborghini will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013, and the automaker is planning to create a special model to honor the event. Details surrounding the automobile are sparse, with officials only revealing that the car will be a special one-off machine that will be unveiled sometime early in 2013, AutoBlog reports.

"It will not be a revival or retro," said Stephan Winkelmann, chief executive officer of Lamborghini, as quoted by Motor Trend.

GTSpirit reports that other potential redesigns included the Lamborghini Miura, Urus SUV or Estoque, but recent reports have dissuaded auto enthusiasts from these prospects. There has, however, been several rumors that the vehicle will be a preview of the next generation Gallardo or an Aventador J, which may be the most plausible idea, as the new Gallardo is not expected until 2014.

The automaker has previously released special editions of its cars for its 25th, 30th and 40th anniversaries, and the 50th anniversary car is expected to kick off a period of one-off designs and customization for the Italian luxury brand. According to Motor Authority, Lamborghini is looking to improve its personalization, and will offer more specialized auto repair to help drivers have the best possible experience.
