Most drivers won't keep the same car forever, with many selling or trading the vehicle after some use. To keep these car buyers on top of the latest trends when it comes to reselling an automobile, Kelley Blue Book released the 2013 model-year winners of its annual Best Resale Value Awards.

The awards were given out based on the best brands and individual models in separate categories. Toyota's FJ Cruiser took the top spot in the overall top 10, closely following by the Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Wrangler and Honda CR-V. When it comes to luxury cars, Lexus claimed the title with its 2013 GS 350.

"The competition for Best Resale Value within many segments has become very heated in the last few years, as major vehicle redesigns and new model inductions have challenged the traditional favorites," said Eric Ibara, a director at Kelley Blue Book. "However, for the second year in a row, Toyota and Lexus retain the top best resale value ranking for both non-luxury and luxury brands."

Vehicles were judged based on how well they retained value over a 60-month period. Depreciation is something all drivers should consider when purchasing a car, according to Kelley Blue Book, as well as what the cost of potential auto repair or car tune ups will be in the future.
