Kate Middleton's old car fails to sell at auction

The saga of Kate Middleton's old Volkswagen Golf continues, as the brothers who own the car recently attempted to sell it on TV for £70,000 (about $92,000).

Sonny and Casey Brazil are the sons of a used car dealer who bought the vehicle from Middleton's brother James in 2009, and have been trying to sell it since then. An auction on eBay failed to meet the brother's reserve price, and a recent stint on television didn't help their bank accounts either, reports The Daily Mirror.

The brothers went on a program called "Four Rooms," where car dealers bid in an auction format on each vehicle. The Brazils made their pitch for the vehicle, which Middleton purchased for £10,000 ($13,000) back in 2001. However, none of the dealers came close to their asking price - although one tried to lowball the duo with an offer of £8,000 ($10,000).

One dealer, however, advised the boys to hang onto the car, as he said it could one day sell for hundreds of thousands - in about 20 years.

Even if your car is nearly a decade old, it still pays to give it the royal treatment when it comes to auto maintenance. Oil changes and radiator flush and fills can prevent problems and keep your vehicle on the road longer.
