Jeremy Lin stars in new Volvo ad

Volvo is adding a new star to its commercials for its "unexpected" ad campaign. Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin, who made waves after a series of successes with the New York Knicks, is the latest athlete to join forces with a car company.

The commercial is titled "The Unexpected Ones" and highlights the parallels between Lin and Volvo, AutoBlog reports. Lin is shown making a series of driving decisions in his Volvo that stand out from the crowd, including leaving a celebrity event in his own car and turning the tires away from everyone else who is waiting for limousines. Just like his driving route, Lin's own career has been filled with unexpected twists and turns.

"No one expected me to be here," Lin says in the voice over, according to Media Post. "No one expected me to be a starter, to hit game-winning shots. Or even play in this league. Well, I'm not here to live up to anyone else's expectations. I'm here to live up to mine."

Lin signed a two-year deal with Volvo, so the two should be making commercials together for a while. The automaker hopes that Lin will draw in younger fans as well as the emerging Asian markets.
