James Bond's car up for sale

Car enthusiasts who want to own a piece of history are in luck. One of James Bond's iconic Aston Martins is being sold at an auction in Great Britain in early October.

According to the U.K. newspaper The Telegraph, the vehicle is a black 2008 Aston Martin 6 Litre V12 DBS 2-Door Coupe. It appeared in the opening chase scenes of the film Quantum of Solace, starring the most recent Bond actor Daniel Craig, and was one of seven Aston Martins that were used in the filming of the movie.

The sale is taking place as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the international spy. Several of the 22 released films feature Aston Martin cars, with the Associated Press claiming that the first appeared in 1964's Goldfinger. Since then, the vehicle has made appearances in eight other films.

While it's doubtful that Mr. Bond had enough free time to provide the car with its scheduled maintenance, the sports car is still expected to bring in nearly $200,000 for the auction. All proceeds will benefit the children's charity Barnardo's.
