The 2014 Honda Accord was recently named the "Green Car of the Year" by the Green Car Journal. Recognized at the L.A. Auto Show, the Accord was cited as the top vehicle by judges on hand for its class-leading features. A long line of fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly models helped to set Honda apart from its competitors, and with editions like the Accord Hybrid ready to make a splash in the marketplace, this could just be the beginning for the automaker.

"With its efficient internal combustion, hybrid and plug-in choices, the 2014 Honda Accord delivers exactly what consumers are looking for today," said Ron Cogan, editor of Green Car Journal. "It all comes together this year for the Accord in ways that speak to significant environmental performance built into a mainstream, volume model that's a joy to drive."

Green Car Journal also named the 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas as the top green vehicle in late 2011. Although that automobile was certainly impressive, this latest Accord may be even more inspiring. Add in elements like easy vehicle maintenance, great mileage and a collection of other top-notch features, and it's easy to see why the Accord made an impression on the judges.
