Every driver will be looking for something different when shopping for a new or used car. Depending on the needs and habits of a motorist, anything from a booming sound system and comfortable interior to top-notch safety features and low-cost vehicle maintenance could be at the forefront of a wish-list. Despite the wide range of must-haves for drivers on the road, a few automobiles manage to stand apart thanks to their dazzling style and performance.

That's certainly the case with the Ford Mustang, which was given the Cars.com Shoppers' Choice Award for 2013. Users voted for the vehicle largely because of its classic style and impressive handling.

"The Ford Mustang remains a favorite among shoppers," said Patrick Olsen, editor-in-chief of Cars.com. "In its 50th year of production, the Mustang continues to be a sports car icon, and perhaps Ford's most recognizable car ever. It is an American classic beloved by so many Americans, and the devotion to that car showed in the voting results."

Other finalists for the Shoppers' Choice Award included the Chevrolet Camaro, Honda Accord, Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Civic, Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Silverado.
