Although it doesn't typically write about vehicles, Travel + Leisure does occasionally touch on cars, as it falls under its "travel" section. While the news source doesn't go in-depth in terms of performance or reliability like some other sites do, it still weighs in on vehicles that are simply fun to drive and "improve the traveling experience."

That was the intended goal for this year's Design Awards, which are given out by the company in a wide variety of categories. The 2012 Fiat 500 was named as the winner for best car, with the magazine praising the vehicle's exterior and interior styling, along with its overall design.

"The Design Awards jury applauded the Fiat 500 for its effortless combination of compact practicality with a real sense of style, speed, and fun," said Luke Barr, news director for Travel + Leisure.

Though a car may be well-designed, no automaker has created a vehicle that can completely avoid the repair shop. Fortunately, proactive drivers who keep up with their auto maintenance, such as radiator flush & fills, can help themselves avoid more expensive car repairs.
