Automobiles for the 2014 model year continue to rack up awards from 2013, and several big-name winners are poised to make a major splash in the coming months. The biggest winner was the Chevrolet Impala, which was named the "Best of 2014" by Cars.com. Experts from the site claim the Impala best met the standards of quality, innovation and value, which are the three major factors considered by editors when judging cars.

"2014's all-new Impala won over our editors with improved performance and power, a revamped luxurious interior and top-of-the-line technology," said Patrick Olsen, editor-in-chief of Cars.com. "Once a bland sedan, the new Impala is not only the best in its class, but our top pick out of all brand-new 2014 models. The 2014 Impala is truly a transformed car."

Of course, there were a number of categories won by vehicles other than the Impala. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was named the Best Pickup Truck, while the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport was proclaimed the Family Car of the Year

All of the winners were chosen based on performance in certain situations, as well as the upgrades and new features that have been installed in the current year. Other aspects, such as easy vehicle maintenance, reliability and storage space, were also considered.
