People who are fans of the Back to the Future franchise may be surprised to hear that the famed DeLorean that was used in the third installment is up for auction.

Profiles in History will be selling various items from the Back the Future movies as part of its "Icons of Hollywood" auction, which will be held December 15-17.

The DeLorean in question was one of seven that were used by Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) during the trilogy, and this car in particular can be seen on screen during the 1955 drive-in movie scene.

What makes this car even more special is that it is one of only three of the DeLoreans that survived since the films' release. Additionally, this is the only model that's in private hands, as the others are on display in theme parks.

While you may not be able to afford a DeLorean of your own, making sure you take care of routine auto maintenance can help your classic car last longer. Making sure to get a radiator services and have brakes checked is crucial for keeping a vintage car alive.
