AutoNation teams with eBay for novel approach to selling cars

By now, most people know it's possible to buy a vehicle online, including on auction sites like eBay. This new world of auto buying brings with it the ability to offer different approaches to selling vehicles, and AutoNation and eBay are teaming up to explore one.

The two websites are running a promotion on eBay through July 2nd. All cars in the promotion will start at the MSRP for the vehicle, then begin falling according to a designated schedule shown on the page of each auction. For example, the Nissan Rogue that is kicking off the promotion starts at a price of $28,108, reports Autoblog. After an hour, the price drops down to $27,608, and so on until someone clicks "buy."

There's not bottom price and really the only thing stopping the vehicle from falling extremely low would be someone stepping in and buying the vehicle. The promotion will include models such as a Ford Mustang, Dodge Charger, Toyota Prius C and more.

Those interested in buying a vehicle may want to check out the promotion, although it remains to be seen whether it'll really result in great deals, or if one overeager buyer will simply end up paying too much. It might be a smarter idea to simply invest in vehicle maintenance for your current car, which can keep it running longer.
