Volkswagen has announced new jobs for its factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the new Volkswagen Passat is manufactured. The German automaker redesigned the sedan this year, specifically targeting the American market with a roomier and more luxurious vehicle. The car has been a hit thus far, and now Volkswagen is scrambling to keep up with production. The company says they are adding an additional 800 jobs to its plant, on top of the 200 already added this year, according to Autoblog."We have made a commitment to this market, both in terms of products and investment. Our original commitment to invest $4 billion into the U.S. market continues to grow, with a parts depot announced last week and now another further commitment to employment here in Chattanooga," said Jonathan Browning, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. "Quite plainly, we need more Passats to meet the market demand and I'm glad that we can respond so quickly by adding staff in Chattanooga."Those who have just bought a Passat or any other vehicle should be sure to keep their car well-maintained. Regular oil changes and tune-ups can extend the lifespan of a vehicle and ensure it stays on the road for years to come.
