The introduction of Infiniti's new sports performance subbrand model, which promises increased power and better handling, has been met with enthusiasm with customers and critics alike.

MSN Autos, which states point-blank that the Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) G37 coupe isn't as cool as a BMW M3 or Mercedes C63 AMG, find the IPL very enjoyable and surprisingly budget friendly compared to its German competition.

The engine uses a 3.7-liter V-6 with 348 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque, thanks to bigger exhaust pipes and more precise controls. It comes with the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic, offering 17/25 city/highway mpg and 19/27 for the transmission models, respectively.

Inside, there are only a few differences between the G37 coupe and the IPL model, but red accents on the seatline stitching and steering wheel add some color and aluminum pedals make the driver feel like their driving a more expensive vehicle than they really are.

"The IPL G37 is sporty and nimble. It attacks turns with verve, turning in quickly, leaning very little and tracking nicely through to the exit," says the auto site.

Only one minor detail stood out during the critic's test drive: the shock absorption over pot-holes. Drivers in bad climates might want to find something that doesn't jar so easily over divots in the street.
