The most reliable cars found in America

While some cars fall apart more easily than others, MSN Autos has determined the ten most reliable cars by creating a unique formula that combines good faith and studies performed by J.D. Power and Associates.

The problem with determining the list of the most reliable vehicles in today's market is time - how can you test the cars without using them for several years? While it's not foolproof, MSN Autos came up with a formula that used the J.D. Power's Initial Quality and Vehicle Dependability rankings and points for vehicles made by automakers that have improved their models over the past few years.

As they researched, MSN Autos also found that cars have become more reliable over the years.

"Basically, we've seen about a 5 percent reduction in the number of problems reported each year," says vice president of vehicle research at J.D. Power and Associates Dave Sargent. "So if you buy a 2011 model-year vehicle, chances are that it will have fewer problems in its first five years than if you had bought a 2010 vehicle."

Most the cars that made the top 10 were sedans, but two SUVs and a truck also made the cut. So what's the list? The Honda Accord, Porsche 911, Buick LaCrosse, Hyundai Equus, Ford Fusion, Toyota Highland, Toyota Tundra, Lincoln MKZ, Lexus GX 460 and Hyundai Sonata are all fantastically reliable vehicles.
