Consumer Reports' guides have released its picks for the best cars of the year, including six brand-new models, in ten separate categories, reports MSN.The Hyundai Elantra is the best "Small Car" thanks to its bang-for-your-buck value and excellent handling. The "Budget Car" title, however, went to the Honda Fit, which is about $2,000 cheaper than the Elantra... and about half the size.Families will love the Nissan Altima, chosen as the "Family Sedan," while the Kia Sorento won "Family SUV." In addition, the Toyota Sienna took home the title of "Family Hauler," likely referring to its mini-van classification.Adventurous couples might enjoy the Toyota RAV4 - the best "Small SUV" on the road in 2011, which handles bumpy rides with ease but doesn't take up too much space. There's no surprise in the "Green Car" category, the Toyota Prius, with its 44 mpg fuel economy rating, to home the prize.Ford Mustang won the "Sporty Car" title, while the Infiniti G37 was awarded best "Sports Sedan."Lastly, the Chevrolet Avalanche was named the "Pickup Truck" of 2011.All of these cars have smooth rides, great value and passed some 50 different tests before winning their respective category.
