Subaru announces details of redesigned Legacy, Outback

3/30/2012

Subaru has released details on its all new Legacy and Outback models, both of which are slated to debut next month at the New York Auto Show.

Autoblog reports that the new cars will come with a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder engine, which will offer increased horsepower and torque compared to the previous versions of the cars. Despite this, the Legacy has received an upgrade in fuel efficiency by one MPG, while the Outback will stay the same. V6 models will also be available.

Another major feature is Subaru's new EyeSight, which combines adaptive cruise control, automatic collision braking and lane departure warnings into one system. The idea is to offer a car that can "see" an impending crash and react accordingly.

Drivers who are planning to trade up to a new Legacy, Outback or any other model need to make sure that their current car is in tip-top shape. Investing in auto maintenance can help drivers spot any car repairs that may come up during the transaction. A well-tuned car with no major issues will be worth more than one that will give the dealer significant problems.
