While there have been no official announcements as of yet, rumors are circulating that Volkswagen is issuing a stop-sale on all 2009-2012 Jetta, Jetta Sportwagen and Golf TDI vehicles that have the 2.0-liter TDI turbo-diesel engine. This will hold until an official investigation can be completed.AutoBlog reports that the issue under examination is centered around the fuel injectors. Some of the material used in manufacturing the tubes may be scratched from a grinding process, and the damaged material might not be able to withstand the injector pulse rate. The news source spoke with a Volkswagen representative, who reported that no official announcements will be made by the German automaker. They are working with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to determine if a recall is warranted. While a voluntary recall will not be announced until the NHTSA completes its investigation, Volkswagen owners may want to consider getting some car maintenance to make sure that their vehicles are safe to drive.Currently, there is no information available on the NHTSA website pertaining to the Volkswagen investigation.
