Recently released Ford Escape recalled

Typically a recall involves a model that has been on the road for a few years, but that's not always the case. Ford recently announced it will be recalling its 2013 Escape crossover, which just went on a sale, for an issue related to the car's brakes.

According to USA Today, the American automaker is calling back 8,266 of the new cars. This includes all vehicles built between March 8th and June 7th. Drivers can find out when their car was built by looking for a sticker on the car's door jamb.

Technically, the problem isn't related to the brakes themselves, but the carpeting on the car's floor. The automaker says there's a slight chance the carpeting could cause the driver's foot to become slowed while moving from the gas to the brake, which would increase the car's stopping distance. According to Ford, they have "not received any field reports of increased stopping distance for this issue."

It's probably more of a precaution than anything else, but Ford is notifying owners later this month and will fix the issue free of charge.
