For automotive fans, there are few cars more legendary in history than the General Lee, which was made famous on the television show "The Dukes of Hazzard." The orange 1969 Dodge Charger made many a young viewer fall in love with automobiles, and scenes of the car jumping are among the most iconic in popular culture.

Now, the original vehicle that was used in the series is going up for auction, reports Edmunds Inside Line. The crowd at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, will have a chance to bid on the famous car next month. Interestingly, the vehicle will have no reserve price, so it will sell for whatever the top bid is.

A recent replica of the car was auctioned in 2008 and went for $450,000, so it's likely that this car - the very first one used in the show - will attract an even higher total. The car has gone through numerous restorations over the years, but is currently in the same condition as it was when it first appeared on the show.

Keeping a legend around that long has undoubtedly required significant auto maintenance and car repairs. Most will likely not be able to afford the General when it goes up for auction, but they can keep their own vehicles on the road by investing in routine tune-ups and oil changers.
