Rumors surrounding the possibility of a major recall for Volkswagen were right. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently announced that a recall for car repair on more than 168,000 vehicles for issues with the fuel injection system will be necessary, and the German automaker will begin the recalls in November. The reason that Volkswagen will be performing the auto maintenance free-of-charge is that the fuel injector lines are susceptible to damage, which could cause fuel leaks that may lead to car fires. The Associated Press reports that there have been no reported incidents involving car fires as of yet, however the car company will be performing auto repairs on all affected Jetta, Jetta Sportwagen and Golf vehicles as well as 7,131 Audi A3s, that were manufactured between May 2008 and September 2011.Dampers will be installed in every recalled vehicle to lessen the vibrations from the combustion chamber, which are causing damage to the fuel injector lines. The news source reports that 20 percent of the affected vehicles will need to have their fuel injector lines replaced as well.
