Mercedes-Benz to operate California-based driving school

4/28/2011

Mercedes-Benz has announced it will open a driving school for teens in Los Angeles, California.

The courses will seamlessly blend on-the-road training with classroom experience and online tutorials when it begins in October.

"The Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy will connect with students and parents using a personalized, customer-centric approach that truly creates a unique offering among driver's education services for new teen drivers," said Carolyn Duchene, the director of the academy in a statement released by the manufacturer.

The company hopes to go above and beyond the normal driving courses offered to teens in America today. With an ever-changing environment on the road, Mercedes feels that more structured tutorials are needed to prepare new drivers.

At the Los Angeles-based school, teachers will follow a curriculum that is California-centric. People who drive in the Golden State tend to have different habits from other American vehicle operators, especially in cities like LA and San Francisco.

Customized courses will also be available for students. For example, students who want to take classroom options elsewhere can participate in on-the-road-only lessons. In addition, classes to help drivers improve their driving techniques will keep the roads safer than ever before.
