Honda has issued two recalls last week for problems in some of its popular family vehicles, according to Autoblog. The Japanese automaker reported two recalls for separate issues. The first was related to Honda Odyssey minivans from 2008 and 2009, approximately 45,000 cars in total. On versions of this popular vehicle that include a power rear liftgate, an issue with pressurized gas could potentially result in an injury.Vehicles with power liftgates open them automatically using struts filled with pressurized gas. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a manufacturing flaw could result in too little gas in these struts, which would result in the liftgate closing unexpectedly and potentially causing injury. The second recall was somewhat smaller, but possibly more serious. Approximately 8,700 Honda Pilots and Acura MDXs from the 2012 model year were found to have improperly designed fuel tanks. An issue with the valve casing in these vehicles could potentially lead to a fuel leak, which could cause a fire. While recalls are typically covered by the manufacturer, drivers should still keep up with their car's auto maintenance. Regular tune-ups can help catch car repairs before they become a major issue.
