Honda has issued a recall for nearly one million vehicles worldwide due to two separate issues related to the windows and transmission. The major portion of the recall is due to the switch that controls the power windows, reports The New York Times. This sounds like a minor problem, but it's very widespread and potentially dangerous. Apparently, electrical contacts on this switch can degrade over time, which could lead to a fire. This issue affects more than 950,000 cars around the world, including any Honda CR-Vs built in the U.S. between 2006 and the present. Most of the other models are Honda Fits located in Europe or Asia.In addition, the software on new versions of the CR-Z hybrid also has an issue that could cause the gears to become switched - drive would become reverse or neutral would become park, for example. This problem affects more than 5,000 cars in the U.S.When a driver purchases a used vehicle, it's always helpful to take it in for a full vehicle inspection and run diagnostics to ensure there are no problems. This way, an owner can be sure that the car has had all of its recall work taken care of.
