The new version of the Ford Escape crossover hit dealerships this month, and the American automaker appears to be happy with initial sales of the new car, according to USA Today.Ford told the news source that the Escape's initial sales are even better than the new Ford Explorer that debuted in late 2010. That model eventually went on to be a major success for the automaker. According to Ford, the average Escape sits on a dealer's lot for just 4.5 days before it is sold - a very short amount of time. What's more, Ford is making money off of each Escape sold due to the fact that many drivers are looking into extra features. Approximately 57 percent of buyers are purchasing an Escape with a higher trim level than the base model. Like its other cars, Ford's fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine is also a major hit. According to the company, 93 percent of Escape purchasers opt for the EcoBoost over the lower MPG options. The Escape also boasts a brand-new feature called the kick-to-open liftgate. If the driver's hands are full, they can simply swing their leg underneath the rear bumper. As long as they have the key in their pocket, the trunk will open automatically. Ford says about 50 percent of buyers are choosing this option.Whether you have a new Escape or have been driving the same care for years, regular vehicle maintenance is critical to keeping it on the road.
