The new Ford Escape just went on sale this year, but the crossover SUV is already subject to two major recalls - and the latest one may be extremely dangerous.Ford announced this week that more than 10,000 Escapes would be recalled due to an issue with the floor mats that could interfere with the pedals. The issue was considered minor, and most owners have not yet been notified. However, now a second, more serious recall has been announced. It appears that Escapes equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine may have an issue with the fuel lines that could cause a fire, reports The New York Times. In an unusual move, Ford is advising owners to avoid driving the cars until the auto repair can be made. The recall applies to approximately 11,500 Escapes, some of which were also included in the floor mat issue. Unlike other recalls, Ford is advising owners to get the vehicle repair done right away so the car is safe to operate. The automaker says no injuries have resulted from the issue, but did not reveal how many fires have been reported thus far, if any.
