Consumers are turning toward more fuel efficient and greener vehicles. This may not come as a surprise as gas prices remain high. Manufacturers are coming out with some incredibly interesting models and options to meet the consumers' energy efficiency and green desires. Notably, Motor Trend Magazine reports MIT has offered the Hiriko EV, which can fold itself and drive sideways. It would be even more impressive if it could perform its own oil change.Folding bicycles have been around for a bit, but a folding car? The world can check that off the list of firsts. When the vehicle is stationary, the front end folds up making the footprint smaller, thus allowing it to fit in much smaller spaces. For city dwellers, this feature may be a selling point. The vehicle also has zero-turn-radius wheels that allow sideways movement. Parallel parking may be a thing of the past.Among electric vehicles, the Hiriko beats out the Mitsubishi i-MiEV for miles between charges. The Hiriko can travel up to 75 miles on a charge, whereas the i-MiEV's range tops at 62.
