The Fisker Karma is a high-powered electric sports car that has been seen in the possession of numerous celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Justin Bieber. Unfortunately, the vehicle's been having some severe quality issues since debuting. When Consumer Reports first tried to review the car, the vehicle locked up and wouldn't start. Several other owners have reported problems as well. In addition, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ordered a recall of the vehicle in December, as it was found the vehicles could be at risk of catching on fire. Now, that recall is being expanded to include an additional 19 vehicles, according to The New York Times. The initial recall covered 239 cars, which was a large portion of the Karmas sold already. Fisker's latest recall isn't the result of additional incidents, but a recent discovery made by engineers. According to the company, improperly positioned clamps could cause coolant to leak onto the battery, which in turn could cause an electrical short and start a fire.Whether you own a super-rare electric sports car or the same model just about everyone else drives, vehicle maintenance is extremely important when it comes to avoiding issues such as this. Regular cooling system service, for example, can ensure all clamps are in place there's no danger of a coolant leak.
