The experts over at MSN Autos have released their review of the 2012 Fiat 500, a two-door compact hatchback that is returning to the United States after a 27-year absence.Designed with the American consumer in mind, the Fiat 500 is a great car "with irresistible looks, decent performance and entirely nice road manners, whether on city streets or on twisty asphalt ribbon," states MSN.It might not be as big as the current MINI, but it still maximizes space and fits four passengers comfortably. The dashboard is easy to understand and control, while chrome accents add a little style to the Sport and Lounge trims. The car's handling is great, which is surprising considering its small size and low torque (98 ft-lbs), but MSN claims the Fiat 500 slices traffic like a hot knife through butter.Under the hood, a 1.4-liter engine gets 101 horsepower and amazing fuel economy. With a combined city/highway rating of 33 mpgs, the Fiat 500 might have the best gas mileage for any car in its class."The modern Fiat 500 is a cool, chic, no-nonsense little car that's a joy to drive. The fun has just begun," concludes MSN, referring to the automaker's return to the U.S.
