Originally announced in October, the triumphant (and electric) return of the DeLorean Motor Company came to fruition recently at the New York Auto Show, reports Autoblog. The new electric vehicle is still a concept, but the rejuvenated DeLorean Motor Company hopes to mass produce the vehicles for early 2013, according to the news source. Specifications are not yet final, but the vehicle will reportedly go from zero to 60 in less than six seconds and cost $95,000.The DeLorean rose to prominence in the 1980s after the success of the"Back To The Future" films, in which the gullwing-doored car was used as a time machine. The automaker made a nod to the movie with a novelty license plate on the showroom model that reads "Gas? Where we're going, we don't need gas."As of now, the only place to get a DeLorean is on the used car dealership, and the surviving models will likely need major car repairs. Drivers who pay close attention to their auto maintenance can ensure that their cars stay on the road longer - hopefully long enough to become a classic like the DeLorean and increase in value.
