Auto research website Edmunds has updated their Android smartphone application with additional information designed to help shoppers buying a used car. As most drivers know, the process of buying a used car is very different from purchasing new, so the app has been updated to reflect these differences."The initial launch of our Android app for new car research was a major success and the most common feedback we received was a strong desire for used car information," said Jennifer Cleverley, director of mobile technology at Edmunds.com. "We heard that feedback loud and clear, and car buyers now have an even better app to help them negotiate their new or used vehicle purchases with confidence."One of the key features for used cars is the company's True Market Value. This formula helps buyers approximate a price for used cars they are considering buying or trading in.When it comes to used cars, one of the big issues is maintenance. As cars get up in mileage, drivers need to pay attention to tune-ups, oil changes and any potential repairs that could arise. Edmunds factors this into their value, along with features like depreciation, to determine what a buyer should pay for a car. For example, if a particular model has a history of needing more maintenance and repairs, it's worth less as a used car - while a reliable model could be worth a bump in price.
