In a true testament to the power of vehicle maintenance, a Swiss couple has broken three Guinness World Record for a car with more than 400,000 miles on the odometer.Emil and Liliana Schmidt own a 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser, and they've kept the car in working condition for the last 30 years. But that's not all - the couple also actively drives the car on their journey around the world. The Schmidts originally set out on a one-year escape, but never went back. They've taken their Land Cruiser all over the world, breaking the records for longest travel journey, the most miles, and the most countries visited in a single car.The Land Cruiser has seen its fair share of bumps and bruises, reports AOL Autos. The vehicle has 413,654 miles on the odometer and has seen 172 countries. The couple has reportedly replaced 166 flat tires, 138 spark plugs, 54 shock absorbers, 31 batteries and 22 air filters during their massive journey. In the past three months alone, the vehicle has suffered a broken engine mounting, ruptured handbrake cable, broken cross-shaft, and a damaged power piston.Yet the Land Cruiser lives on. The couple once thought about leaving the vehicle after a particularly bad breakdown in 2006, but ultimately found a small repair shop on the isle of Borneo that got it back in working order.
