A special kind of vehicle

While many people are concerned about what cars celebrities are driving, some forget that cars can become famous too.

Herbie, Christine and General Lee didn't promote themselves, you know. The Studebaker National Museum in South Bend, Indiana has a new exhibit that will display the many cars that have graced the screen in television and movies.

"Stars and the Cars: Television, Movie & Celebrity Cars" will showcase some of the most famous cars to ever been seen by an audience, reports WSBT.com. Sometimes the vehicles were a character, other times they simply assisted with an excellent getaway.

Either way, like a human celebrity, there's something irresistible about seeing these famous cars up close and in person.

"It does attract quite a few different people," Harriet Shock, a museum staff member, told the news source. "People of all ages, all interest groups, it appeals to everyone."

Herbie will be at the exhibit along with another famous VW Beetle... the Austin Powers psychedelic model. In addition, cars from the Fast and the Furious will also be on display.

Cars owned by celebrities are being showcased as well, such as Elton John's 1949 Delahey coup or the Mongrel T once used by Elvis Presley in "Easy Come, Easy Go."

The exhibit will run through April 10, 2011 before, when most of the vehicles return to the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.
