A lesson on getting an oil change

Sometimes it can be hard to tell whether cars need an oil change - there are so many recommendations that getting the necessary tune-up can be a pain.

It is, however, very essential to the well-being of a car and because vehicles are so different, there is probably a very specific time when you should change the oil.

For example, one young man learned this the hard way when he chose to drive the aforementioned Jeep from Boston, Massachusetts to Los Angeles, California.

As he passed through the Arizona desert, a sandstorm arose, but the driver chose to keep driving. Soon, he exited the highway to get McDonald's. There in the drive-through, his radiator exploded, and he was trapped in Winslow, Arizona, for days.

Perhaps if he had gotten an oil change before leaving - it had been months, possibly even a full year, since he got one - he would have been fine. And not spending $2,000 in repair.

So when in doubt - whether it's been 3 months or 3,000 miles - get an oil change.
