The ninth generation of Honda's Civic is still one of the automaker's best models, reports MotorTrend.

Offering better fuel economy, smoother handling, more room and a contemporary design, the Honda Civic continues to push boundaries in the compact car class.

Starting at $16,355, the gas-based Civic comes with a 1.8-liter engine with 140 horsepower and 128 ft-lb of torque.

The hybrid version, which starts at 424,800 comes with a 1.5-liter engine along with 90-horsepower and 97 ft-lb of torque.

"As before, the new Civic retains a front strut/rear multilink setup to which Honda has increased suspension stroke and reduced damper friction. According to Honda, the results are a smoother ride and improved stability," states the news source.

The acceleration is a little slow, varying from 6.5-10.5 seconds to reach 60 mph, but speed isn't the main concern on a Honda Civic.

When it comes to a compact vehicle, what matters most is value, and the Honda Civic delivers. With a roomy interior, fantastic performance and a really good price, there's not much else in its class that can compete with Honda's signature model.
