Obama's old Chrylser 300C: Worth a million bucks?

January 26, 2012 12:00 AM

A 2005 Chrylser 300C has been put up for auction on eBay Motors, and the seller claims that the vehicle once belonged to President Obama, according to Autoblog.

The 300C features a 5.7-liter V8 engine and only has about 20,000 miles on it. Obama drove the vehicle between 2004 and 2007 while he was still a senator, but traded it in for the more eco-friendly and politically-palatable Ford Escape Hybrid when he began to run for office.

Despite the model's Presidential ties, the owner has not yet received any bids for the vehicle. Although the seller claims he has all the relevant paperwork to prove the car's ownership, the starting price is $1 million dollars, which seems a bit high.

Drivers will likely not get anywhere close to $1 million when they trade in their old vehicles, but keeping up with auto maintenance over time can pay off. A well-kept car is worth demonstrably more when it comes time trade it in, and those who keep their vehicle in pristine condition over time may end up seeing that model become a classic car in later years.
