Kelley Blue Book ranks brands by resale value

One of the biggest factors that drivers look at when shopping for a car is how well the automobile will retain its value. Although much of a vehicle's resale value depends on what happens when it's on the roads, there are certain brands and models that are less affected by depreciation than others. To sort through these models, Kelley Blue Book recently released its list of the 2014 Best Resale Value Awards

Toyota captured the title of the Best Resale Value Brand for 2014, while Lexus was named as the top luxury brand for resale value.

"Capturing top honors for the third year in a row, Toyota and Lexus continue their Best Resale Value Awards Brand and Luxury Brand reign, earning an impressive 18 combined awards among the 2014 model-year lineups," said Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book. "While both Toyota and Lexus continue to deliver incredible resale value, we also are impressed with the strides made by Chevrolet, which tops domestic automakers with five combined awards."

It is important to note that the vehicles with the best resale value are the ones that have been given regular scheduled maintenance throughout the course of their lives. Receiving timely auto repair from a professional is the only way to make sure your car is operating at a high, efficient level, and that is necessary for maintaining a good resale value.
