Hollywood heartthrob and philanthropist, George Clooney, has offered his Tesla Roadster for auction to support the Satellite Sentinel Project. Clooney's electric roadster is the eighth of the "Signature 100" built in 2008. Gooding and Company, the auction house, estimates the value of the car at $100,000 to $250,000.

"We are overjoyed to present George Clooney's Signature 100 Tesla at Pebble Beach because this is an incredible opportunity to purchase a modern collector car with all the right elements: one-owner, celebrity provenance; historical significance; limited-edition rarity and philanthropic ties. We admire and respect Mr. Clooney's talent and dedication to making a difference in our international community, and hope his fantastic car will attract great support for the Satellite Sentinel Project and recognition of the lives his work saves every day," says president and founder David Gooding.

The Satellite Sentinel Project was co-founded by Clooney and John Prendergast in 2010 to keep an eye on Sudan and South Sudan. The 2012 Gooding and Company Pebble Beach Auctions will take place on August 18 and 19.

While some bidders may be more interested in the car just because they want a piece of Clooney, auto enthusiasts may be more interested in its rarity. However, with any cars bought off auction, checking if a vehicle needs brake repairs or a tune up is necessary before taking it on the road.
