Ford looks at car trends across the US

Your location can have a huge impact on the type of car you drive, as well as how you drive it. To see just how big of a role geography plays, Ford took a look at customer buying trends across the U.S. While all motorists may be drawn toward models with easy vehicle maintenance or great fuel efficiency, there were some key features that appeal more to certain areas than others.

Buyers in the Philadelphia area were of a greener mindset than other cities. Drivers in and around the City of Brotherly Love gravitated toward models like the Escape and the Explorer, which come equipped with Ford's EcoBoost engine for maximum fuel efficiency.

"Some may be surprised to see Philadelphia top Ford's EcoBoost engine list, but greener living has become a way of life no longer limited to the coasts as people try to save money at the pump," said Sheryl Connelly, head of global consumer trends for Ford.

The manufacturer also found that drivers in San Francisco were drawn toward the MyFord Touch connectivity system more than any other city. Seattle residents like models that have driver-assist capabilities, while people in Dallas chose the Ford Escape and its foot-activated liftgate. New York City is a metropolis filled with dreamers - so it's no surprise drivers in the Big Apple chose Ford cars with a moonroof, perfect for gazing at the stars.
